ARE YOU QUALIFIED FOR THE JOB?
Do you have a case of the “If Onlys?” You wish you could make a difference. You wish you were “qualified.” You wish you could teach a class. If only you were intellectual. If only you were educated. If only you were a gifted communicator.
Did you know that if you were, those things would be an obstacle for you to overcome rather than an opportunity to excel? It is easy for gifted people to operate in their own strengths rather than in utter dependence on Him. A child plus Jesus is far more powerful than an intellect on his own.
What qualifications do you need to silence the opposition? Who is God looking for to be His spokesperson? Psalm 8:2, NLT says, “You have thought children and infants to tell of Your strength, silencing Your enemies and all who oppose You.” That kind of makes you feel like you may have wasted your money taking out that college loan, doesn’t it? Childlike faith is what silences the enemy. Emptying yourself of everything you know and think you know and filling up with the wisdom of the Holy Spirit is the only source of genuine power.
My father, Adrian Rogers, had the most incredible ability to communicate the life-changing truth of God’s with PhDs and children at the same time. It was a gift. He was secure in who he was in Christ and did not feel the need to impress. Someone asked him how he was able to that. He said that he had a search for a long time for a simpler word to use than the orginal one that came to mind.
