ARE YOU DELEGATING YOUR PERSONAL BURDEN?
Have you ever felt a tug in your heart to do something for someone? Do you see a need that desperately needs attention? Is your heart drawn to a problem that needs to be solved?
I have a pet peeve. There are times when it rubs me the wrong way when someone says, "I feel led to give a gift and you need to pay for it." If you want to share the burden make sure you are the one leading the way with the largest gift. I know that crowd-funding is a great tool. If everyone does a little no one has to do too much. I know that. I think what bothers me is when someone expects everyone to give to finance their personal burden, rather than just making people aware in case they may feel led as well. No one can give to every need.
Be sensitive and remember that when you pray, you are volunteering to partner with God to be the answer to the prayer you are praying. If you see a problem clearly it is probably because God wants to use you to be part of the solution to that problem. You may not be the only person God wants to use to answer that prayer, but if the burden is on your heart it is because God wants you to participate not simply delegate. It certainly isn’t so you can say, “Someone needs to do something about that.” God doesn't burden you so can enlist someone else. That’s like saying, “Here I am, Lord. Send her.”
An inward prompting to say something, give something, or do something should be a realization that God has hand-selected you to be the answer to the prayer of someone He loves. If that doesn't give meaning to your life, I don't know what would.
