YOU AREN’T ALONE

I'm going to ask a question, and I already know the answer. Do you ever get frustrated or even irritated when the person you need to get help or advice from isn't available when you need him/her? That person may totally love you and completely want to help you; it's just that they aren't always available 24/7. You may need them for emotional support, or you may simply need to ask them a question about something you don't know how to do. It isn't their fault. They love you. Obviously, there are going to be times they are busy at the moment you have a need.

This happens to me all the time. So many times I have a list of little ticky-tacky things I need a bit of help with. God has blessed me with a group of people who love to help me. But those people all have a life. The devil wants to come in and make me think that I'm on my own and no one else cares. What a lie! It's embarrassing to even type it out. There are so many people who are standing ready to give me help, advice, prayer, comfort, and anything else I need.

I can't tell you how grateful I am for my friends. My friends are a lot of things, but two things they cannot be are omniscient (they can't know I have a need without me telling them) and omnipresent (there are simply some times when they are doing something else).

But oh, there is this One friend! Let me tell you about Him. Psalm 46:1 says, "God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble." He is my refuge. He is the One who is ALWAYS there when I am hurt, insecure, frightened, overwhelmed, or lonely. He is also my strength. There is NEVER a time when I have to figure something out on my own or do something by myself. He is always there to either do it for me, do it through me, or do it with me.

Lord, when I desperately look around for someone, anyone, who will hold me or help me, let me never forget to stop looking around and start looking up.

Psalm 46:1 is my verse today. And if that is not enough, I'm going to lean into Psalm 37:2-3 as well: "The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives."

Cancel the pity party, Satan. I'm not going to attend.
