HE COMES IN THE STORMS OF LIFE

“He bowed the heavens also and came down: and darkness was under His feet" (Psalm 18:9).

There is no more feeling of helplessness than being in the middle of the fury of a storm. But oh, how we fear the wrong thing. What we should fear the most is the complacency that comes upon us when things are so calm that we think we don’t need the intervention of God on our behalf. The storm is when God flexes His muscles on our behalf.

In this verse, Psalm 18:9, I can hear God calling out, "Don't make Me come down there now." You can be certain if you are an enemy to the plans and purposes of God a storm is indeed a terrifying event. But if you are the one He is fighting for, a storm is a conquering battle cry.

When the storm clouds of life gather it means God is on the move. And He is on the move in response to the cry of the ones He loves.

I can hear my father say, "Praise God it is getting gloriously dark." When God is on the move many times He walks on top of darkness.

What are you focused on? The darkness that is under His feet or the glorious and radiant light that fills the heavens above His feet? Look up! When the storm comes it only means He has bowed the heavens down to the earth. As the song says, "Behold He comes, riding on the clouds."

Nahum 1:3-6 says, "The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the LORD hath His way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of His feet."

That's whose side I am on! Bring it! When the storm clouds gather it means my God is on His way.
