WHO ARE YOU GOING TO CALL WHEN YOU ARE DISCOURAGED, DISILLUSIONED, OR DEPRESSED?

"From the end of the earth will I cry unto Thee when my heart is overwhelmed: Lead me to the Rock that is higher than I" (Psalm 61:2).

"Trust in Him at all times: Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us" (Psalm 62:8).

I've always done the wrong thing when I've been discouraged, disillusioned, or depressed. I have always called a friend for comfort and clarity. That’s the wrong response. I need to pour out my heart to Jesus. He is the one I need to cry to when I am overwhelmed. No matter the problem, Jesus is the answer. O Lord, help me to change who I run to.

Thank You, Jesus, for freeing me when I'm overwhelmed by the bondage of sin and guilt. You don't shun me when I sin. Actually, when I stray like that one lost sheep, instead of shunning me, You seek me. You don't create feelings of unworthiness by bringing up my past, instead, You bury my sin in the deepest sea and remember it no more. You restore me to perfection and holiness in your eyes. What You do, Lord, is entirely different from the lies Satan whispers in my ear.

Thank You, Jesus, for replacing my discouragement, confusion, and hopelessness with peace, purpose, and a passion for living. Thank You for shining a light on my path. Thank You for giving me direction, counsel, and wisdom. Thank You for guiding me with Your eye. Thank You for bringing clarity to my mental fog. Thank You for caring about every detail of my life and my future.

Thank You, Jesus, for giving me understanding and compassion when I am depressed and anxious. Thank You for sympathizing with my weakness. You left heaven and took on human flesh so that You could feel what I feel. You know what it feels like and You give the power to overcome and You show the way to victory. You give me Your strength because my strength is not enough. When I am overwhelmed You have promised to lead me to "the rock that is higher than I."

Why would I go to someone else? It is good to be able to "call upon You.” It is comforting to be able to "cry unto Thee.” I am so glad I can "pour out my heart before You.”

I love the song, “What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and grieves to bear. What a privilege to carry, everything to Him in prayer."

He indeed is worthy to be praised.
