THE PURPOSE OF THE POTTER

“God has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began” (2 Timothy 1:9).

Oh, how I yearn for you to grasp the profound meaning of this verse. It has the power to transform your life forever.

Imagine yourself as a lump of clay on a potter’s wheel, with the Potter envisioning a masterpiece. Before He begins, He knows exactly what He intends to create. You don’t decide your identity; that’s the beauty of it. The Potter decides, and He decided before He even placed the lump of clay that became you on the wheel.

It was His hand that skillfully formed you in your mother’s womb, deciding your sex, appearance, and temperament. He intricately wove gifts and inclinations into the very fabric of your being before you were born.

He had a sacred calling in mind for you when He created you, and He designed you specifically to fulfill that calling. This holy calling can be accomplished in both sacred and secular settings. If there’s something about yourself that you don’t understand, it’s probably because you’re not aligning with the purpose for which He created you.

The Potter didn’t wait to see how you would live your life or what sins you would commit before deciding what you were capable of accomplishing for Him. He knew that His grace would cover your sin and that there would always be a way back home.

When you surrender to the Potter’s purpose, everything about your life will become clear. You will realize that you were created exactly as you are, according to God’s divine plan.

I firmly believe that embracing this truth will infuse your life with unparalleled meaning. Quit deciding what you will do based on what position or opportunity pays the most or provides the best benefits. This has nothing to do with the purpose of the Potter.
