EVERY MOVE YOU MAKE I’LL BE WATCHING YOU

I live right next door to my four grandchildren. As I am writing this, I am watching the three oldest playing in their yard out my window. My oldest grandson is six. My youngest grandson is almost three. Every single move the oldest makes is immediately mimicked by the youngest. It's funny, but it also causes me to reflect.

There are a couple of points I want to make. The first is that it doesn't matter who you are; someone is watching you. Those grandchildren have no idea that I am looking at them through my shutters. They are clueless. Their parents, my son and daughter-in-law, have no idea that I am keeping an eye out my window for their precious children. I am involved even when they may think I am preoccupied.

The second point is that no matter how insignificant you may think you are, you are the most influential person in the eyes of someone. The six-year-old is just a carefree kid, but he is the entire world to his two-year-old brother. My question for you is, whose entire world revolves around you? You may be the best Christian the person watching your every move knows. It may be your own sister or your own brother. It may be your co-worker. It may be your spouse. They are watching your every move to see if what you say you believe makes a difference in what you do.

Here's the deal. You don't know who is watching you. You don't know who is mimicking you. You think you are just doing your thing and living your carefree life. Be aware. Be aware that there is never a second when you are your own. You are a 24/7 representative and ambassador for Christ. The little child right under your "nose" or the "nosey" neighbor you are not even aware of is watching you out of her window. Do they hear you gossip, do they hear you tell "white lies," do they know you fail to report cash income on your taxes, do they observe that you are easily agitated and irritated, can they see you are selfish with your time, can they observe that you resent others who seem to be minding your business instead of their own?

People assume that anyone with any level of maturity or self-control can stay away from the "big" sins. But when they observe that your relationship with Jesus makes a difference in the little things...that is what makes an impact. They know it is real when it affects the little things you do when you think you aren't being watched.

This is just a simple thought for today. But little acts and simple thoughts are the point I'm making. They make a difference. If you are abiding in Jesus and He is living His life through you, everything you do, big and little, will reflect who He is to the watching world. It may not make a difference to everyone, but it will make a difference to someone.
