IN THE NIGHT
“You have tested my thoughts and examined my heart in the night” (Psalm 17:3, NLT).
Be very careful about what you fill your mind with before you go to bed. What is the last thing you watch on television and the final thoughts you think before you fall asleep?
Do you turn off a profanity-laced and immorality-filled movie and get into bed? Do you get into bed with the worries and anxieties of your life weighing heavily on your mind? Do you go to bed angry, bitter, and filled with unforgiveness?
Don’t you know that you turn your subconscious mind into the devil‘s workshop when you do such things at night? The Scripture says don’t go to bed angry lest you give a foothold to the devil. When you do such things you are sleeping with the front door unlocked.
I have long advocated spending the first part of the day with Jesus. Whatever you do, please don’t switch from spending the first part of the day with Him to spending the final part of the day with Him. You must do both. He must occupy both the first part of your day and the last part of your day.
Become serious about transforming your mind. Your mind controls your heart, which controls your actions. Your life will begin to change when your mind's default pathways begin to change. What you put into your mind determines that.
Let Jesus weave His truth into your mind while you are sleeping and then let Jesus work out that truth through your actions during the day when you are awake.
Sing it with me:
“Jesus, Jesus, Jesus in the morning, Jesus in the noontime. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus when the sun goes down.”
“Morning, noon, and night I cry out in my distress, and the Lord hears my voice” (Psalm 55:17, NLT).
