DARK CLOUDS

"Dark clouds surround Him" Psalm 97:2, NLT

Dark clouds in your life don't mean that God is not there. They mean the exact opposite. God is a "blinding light.” (Ps. 44:3). When He draws near He must clothe Himself in a dark cloud in order for you to experience His presence.

When the clouds are dark, look for the rain of His presence and the rain of His blessing. That rain will water your prayers and make them grow. There’s this thing I do. When I see a rain cloud I try to get up from what I am doing, go outside, and look up to the sky in expectancy. I thank God for His presence. I anticipate what is coming in the way of His favor through the rain. I lift my hands skyward and say "LET IT RAIN!"

Psalm 65:9-13: "You take care of the earth and water it, making it rich and fertile. The river of God has plenty of water. It provides a bountiful harvest of grain, for You have ordered it so. You drench the plowed ground with rain, melting the clods and leveling the ridges. You soften the earth with showers and bless its abundant crops. You crown the year with a bountiful harvest; even the hard pathways overflow with abundance. The grasslands of the wilderness become a lush pasture, and the hillsides blossom with joy. The meadows are clothed with flocks of sheep, and the valleys are carpeted with grain. They all shout and sing for joy!"

My favorite line in the song, Seed of Faith is "In a field of doubt, plant a seed of faith. And I'll send the rain. Let it rain. Let it rain."

That dark cloud that is hanging over you right now holds the blessing of God. At just the right time it is going to drip life-giving rain onto your broken and plowed-up field. Look for it. Wait for it. LET IT RAIN.
