THE DAILY CORRUPTION THAT IS BEING UNCOVERED

"Look at all these wicked people--enjoying a life of ease while their riches multiply. Did I keep my heart pure for nothing? Did I keep myself innocent for no reason? I get nothing but trouble all day long; every morning brings me pain" (Psalm 73:12-14, NLT).

It is mind-blowing to watch the nightly news and see the corruption exposed that has been padding the pockets of wicked people for decades. It is very difficult to understand. The Psalmist had the same struggle. History always repeats itself.

He went on to say, "I tried to understand why the wicked prosper. But what a difficult task it is! Then, I went into Your sanctuary, O God, and I finally understood the destiny of the wicked" (Psalm 73:17, NLT).

You, like Asaph who wrote Psalm 73, aren't going to understand anything from your human perspective. Only when you look at things from God's perspective will you finally understand. His judgment is coming and when it does it will come swiftly. Some might even call it "shock and awe."

It is hard to fathom the daily, even minute-by-minute exposure that is coming upon those who think they have "gotten away with it" for decades. Every day new rocks are being overturned with foul and evil slime hidden underneath. And we aren't even talking about what will happen at the final judgment.

Listen to the next verses: "Truly, You put them on a slippery path and send them sliding over the cliff to destruction. IN AN INSTANT THEY ARE DESTROYED, completely swept away by terrors. When You arise, O Lord, You will laugh at their silly ideas as a person laughs at dreams in the morning" (Psalm 73:18-20, NLT).

I am certain it has brought the same discouragement and despair to your heart that it has to mine to see the ridiculously "silly ideas" that have been presented as truth over the last decade. I don't even have to go into all the ridiculous absurd things. You know. You have felt it. You have wondered why God doesn't do anything. HE IS!!! These people are "on a slippery path." They are being sent "sliding over the cliff to destruction." "In an instant they are being destroyed." They are being "completely swept away by terrors." God has arisen and has "laughed at their silly ideas."

How does the Psalmist conclude this Psalm? "But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made the Sovereign LORD my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things You do" (Psalm 73:28, NLT). Oh, friend, the nearness of God is worth infinitely more than millions or even billions of corrupt dollars or power and kingdoms built on lies.

If this is happening today can you imagine what it will be like at the Judgment? II Corinthians 5:10 tells of that day. "For me, we must all stand before Christ to be judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body."

On that day I want to be on the side of Jesus and covered by His blood, don't you?
