MY FATHER’S FINAL LOVE NOTE
I cannot tell you how blessed I was to have experienced firsthand what true love looked like. My father, Adrian Rogers, said he and my mom, Joyce, "started dating in the fourth grade, but didn't get serious until the 6th grade." He dropped his first love note by her desk in the 6th grade (she still has it). But this was his last one. It is framed and sitting next to her bed. Daddy went home to be with Jesus on November 15, 2005. Mom is still alive at the age of 92. He is the only man she has ever loved.
You have to understand the context to get the full weight of this note. Daddy was in the hospital. He was in the process of being put into a medically induced coma that he never came out of. This was the last thing he communicated to her. His mind wasn't completely clear, his handwriting was shaky and yet, even in that condition he never forgot his love for my mother or his charming and often humorous way of expressing it.
In case you can't read the handwriting it says:
Violets are red
Roses are blue
I'm mixed up
But I love you.
May each of you find a "Love Worth Finding." (Check out his ministry and messages on LoveWorthFinding.org).
