WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING
This is the title of one of my favorite movies AND Psalm 127:2 from the Amplified Bible is one of my favorite verses.: "It is vain to rise up early and go to bed late, to eat the bread of painful labor. For He gives to His beloved even in their sleep."
Does everyone wake up around 3:30 am? I think most of us do. It seems as if it is a nuisance, but God always has a reason. For me, God uses that hour to remind me that even in the "wee small hours of the morning" He is at work on my behalf. So, I use that time to talk with Him. I snuggle up and let Him know that I love Him. I thank Him for watching over everything that concerns me. I tell Him how grateful I am for everything He has been doing while I sleep.
What does He do when I am asleep? He gives dreams to others in the middle of the night that will cause them to pursue things that will benefit me. He plants thoughts in the subconscious minds of those I have prayed for. Things will begin to happen in the morning as a result of what He has been orchestrating in the night. Those things won't have anything to do with what I did. I couldn't have done it, I was sleeping. It will ALL be what God did for me, on my behalf, while I was sleeping.
This truth has changed what I do during the day, as well. I am spending my day fellowshipping with the Lord. I am getting to know Him on a deeper, more intimate level. I constantly express my concerns and needs to Him. I ask Him to give me wisdom and make my path known. I not only talk with Jesus during the day, but I also work diligently and consistently. The difference is I am now working in peace, not in panic. As Psalm 127:2 says, I am not rising up too early. I am not going to bed too late. I am not performing "painful labor." Rather, I am taking the steps I know to take, at a steady, but stressless pace. It is because I am leaving it up to Him to cause the increase while I sleep.
You can go to bed at peace when you know that He is awake and working during the night for your good and His glory.
