THE NEXT STEP
If God has told you to do something, what steps are you going to proactively take today to make it happen? I’m not talking about pulling something out of the oven when it’s half-baked. I’m talking about when God has told you to act, and you know it.
For me, I know God continually prompts my spirit. When He does, I think about doing something, and sometimes, I set goals for doing it. Though all of that sounds good, none of it equals anything.
When God speaks to you, simply take the next step. We make things way too complicated. When you do, the step AFTER that will illuminate. Most of the time, it won't illuminate UNTIL you take that first step. Just take the step.
So the question is, what are you doing today to set the things He has told you to do in motion? Not every single part of it, just the first step. The reason most goals don't happen is that they involve several steps. They are complex. On your to-do list, write down the entire project, then list all the various parts under that. Each part makes up the whole, but each part stands alone as a single activity. Doing it this way keeps you from being overwhelmed. It helps you see the progress that you are making. "God ideas" can't be completed in a day, but they need to be started today.
So I will ask you the same question I ask myself: What are you doing to take the first step? You don't have to have the end figured out. Just do the next thing. The Bible says, "Hard work brings prosperity, idle chatter leads to poverty." If it takes several steps, then take the first step.
If a prompting sits in your mind without activity, it will sour the same way food will sour if it sits on your stomach without digestion. Obedience requires action. If you know God has told you to take a trip, get in your car and pull out of the driveway. Don’t wait for all the lights to turn green.
